I fell in love with this gun 2 years ago and I still love it. I had the Smart Parts Ion XE as my first real speedball marker. However, for the woodsball and scenario paintball lovers, this marker works just as well. As for the speed or firing rate, with 17 balls per second (and this increases depending on the board you have), there’s nothing to complain about.

When it comes to durability and reliability, I’m giving this paintball marker 2 thumbs up. I know there are bad reviews concerning Smart Parts Ions in general, but I think these are guys who don’t give a damn about maintaining and keeping their markers clean. I never had any problems with it as long as I clean it on a regular basis (and of course, don’t throw it on water!).

There’s one quibble I have with it though – the trigger. It’s plastic and my Smart Parts Ion XE’s trigger broke down in a month or so. You should get a new trigger as replacement as soon as possible. Looking at the Smart Parts Ion XE as a whole this is definitely a great paintball marker to have.
